Fundraising and Membership Update

Here is the update following our well-attended Open House this weekend! We have positive reviews of the location (406 9th Ave., Watervliet), which has wide-open interior space and is full of natural light. We signed up 24 full members and 19 associate members! We are almost 80% of the way to our goal of 30 full members, which would allow us to cover the monthly costs of rent, heat, insurance, security and electric.

And critically important, as of today we have received $16,696 in donations, which is about 40% of the capital we need to start this studio, the costs of which total $40,000. We have a "do or die" deadline of Nov 30th to raise the amount of $30,000, so we continue to request support from the local community and everyone's social networks. The deadline allows us to sign the lease, pay for movers, and get the studio set up during the month of December. Our timeline is quick and requires swift effort from both the transition team and the larger community.

Here is what you can do to help:

  1. Please follow us on Facebook at Waterbrook Potters Studio and share the page so that your friends can learn about our studio efforts. If you can share any of our Facebook posts (like this one), we would greatly appreciate this.

  2. Visit our webpage at www.waterbrookpotters.com, and consider whether you can help us reach our goal of $40,000 so we can launch. We have a donation page right on the website and are in need of help from potters, friends, family-- near and far!

  3. Donations by check can be sent, along with the attached form, to the following address:
    Waterbrook Potters Studio Inc.
    c/o Cherie Bramley
    2520 McGovern Dr.
    Schenectady, NY 12309

  4. Sign up to be a member on our web site at www.waterbrookpotters.com/membership. We are taking applications through the web, and once you submit, we will make sure to keep you in the loop on items like membership start dates, full list of benefits, and the member contracts. We are so happy to hear that a large number of community members are eager to learn about what membership entails. The transition team is open to your suggestions for what you would like out of your membership, and we will try to incorporate as much of your feedback as possible.

  5. Let us know if you would like to help us with packing, moving, and painting! We will contact you for that support when the time comes.

The transition team continues to meet weekly, and we will be sending more frequent updates to those of you who asked to be kept in the loop.

We look forward to hearing from you about donations if you can help, as well as your membership interest. Please share this information widely. Questions can be addressed to:
