Throwing Off the Hump

Join us for a special demonstration by Susan Nowogrodzki as she showcases the technique of throwing off the hump for members of Waterbrook and the Collar City Clay Guild.

Throwing off the hump involves placing a large amount of clay on the wheel and roughly centering it. The potter then centers enough clay at the top to create a single form, throws it, cuts it off, and repeats the process. It's an excellent method for boosting efficiency and a valuable skill for any potter to master.
