COVID-19 Studio Closure

In order to comply with Governor Cuomo’s executive order for 100% closure of non-essential businesses, Waterbrook Potters Studio will be closing for an indefinite amount of time starting this Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 8:00 pm. Members are not required to remove anything from their shelves, and we will reopen as soon as we are able to. All current memberships will continue through this time.

With our current financial situation, we are able to waive dues for the month of April. If you have already made your April payment, it will be refunded. If you paid by the year, your membership will be extended by one month. Once the studio is able to reopen, the board will reach out to you to restart dues payments.

While the studio is closed, we would like to request studio members donate in order to cover our baseline expenses, like rent, utilities, and insurance. These donations will help ensure our studio is able to reopen and ready to continue to serve the pottery community.

If the executive order lasts beyond April, we will need your help to cover our baseline expenses. If you are still able to, we ask that you make a donation in the amount equal to your monthly membership payment ($90 for full members), or any amount that you can afford, on our website. The numbers we ran indicate we need a minimum donation of $45 per member, but understand some members will not be financially able to contribute. We understand this is an uncertain time and may be a financial burden on some. If you have questions around your ability to donate, covering membership dues, or your membership status, please reach out to the board.

The board is working to ensure our studio will be able to reopen as soon as possible. Although the physical studio closed, we encourage our members to continue to engage with the pottery community online via our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram. Look out for ceramics-related discussion topics, post your homemade clay creations, and virtually interact with your fellow potters in these forums.

We will reassess our situation at the end of April and will continue to provide updates to our community during this time.

We appreciate you weathering this storm with us, and we hope that everyone will come out on the other side of this full of creativity and, most importantly, with good health.
